Alavive began when as was working my way through learning to make a living as a freelance online marketer, copywriter, and web developer in Alabama. At the time, I was raising two sons and their pets in a house I'd bought just before the company I was working for closed. While the insurance, paid holidays, and vacation time that accompanied the anticipated office gigs seemed appealing, I needed a flexible schedule and the freedom to say no to bad jobs. By focusing on being a good person and producing a good work, opportunities to become involved with several terrific companies, design shops, and individuals have kept me busy (and grateful) since 2002.
What I've learned from my nearly 20 years of doing this is that, while I'm happy to work with companies of any size, it's the small businesses that I enjoy working with most. Apart from all the potential of building a brand and getting a product or service noticed for the first time, my experience in web design/development AND marketing has illuminated just how much small businesses get taken advantage of most by the marketing game. And, while it's terrific that there are multiple opportunities for these businesses to create an online presence on their own with any of the social media and free/cheap website-building platforms available, sometimes the whole process is just too overwhelming. Guiding businesses through that process and giving them the web-based foundation they need to grow makes me happy.
For those who are wondering about the redesign: It's still me. I'm joining forces with others to provide more services for current and potential clients.
